Retreats

Shared learning and

partnership building

Our Retreats are gatherings that bring together an even wider array of people for shared learning and partnership-building. To date, they have ranged in length from a half-day to three days.

Retreat themes have included building relationships among community engagement staff in higher education, cultivating trans-boundary connections, and advancing the Community Engagement Fellows Coalition.

During retreats, we mix in opportunities to learn about the local area, and to relax and have fun together. They are an enlivening way of refining, sharing, and improving our practices in different contexts, and being a resource for people who cannot access other CE Fellows programming.

Please email Travis Tennessen if you're interested in co-hosting a future retreat.

Learning Together in the Cascade Foothills is open to those working to enrich the lives and learning opportunities of people who live, work, and play in the foothills region. We encourage participation from those who organize, teach, facilitate, serve, research and enjoy the region in many different types of roles–parent, neighbor, volunteer, professional, etc. Most important is that participants have ongoing or emerging work in the region that they want to improve, and are open to new ideas and potential partnerships.

Please expect an active social learning space that generates relationship-building, orienting knowledge, practical advice, and reveals opportunities for collaboration. Be ready to engage your uncertainties, share your experiences and wisdom, and learn.

The event is being collaboratively hosted by WWU’s Center for Community Learning and Whatcom County Libraries.
